COVER STORY

What an honor it has been to publish half a dozen John M. Floyd short story collections since 2006, and it is my great good fortune to launch another outstanding book of short mystery/suspense fiction by one of the best at his craft in the country in October! The Barrens is loaded with great stories short and long, covering almost every genre imaginable, and with an always-clever, Hitchcockian twist at the end. See if you’ve heard this one before: if you’ve never read short stories, this is where you climb aboard! The Barrens includes “Gun Work,” which will be in Best American Mystery Stories 2018, but that’s only the beginning. And check out this cool cover!
Can’t wait to roll this one out!

I’m equally excited about the new addition to the Dogwood Press team, Molly May. While preparing for Miss Mississippi 2018 in June, Molly finds time to visit schools and civic clubs to spread the word about her nonprofit, Caps That Care. The young breast cancer survivor made breast cancer awareness her platform long ago (her mother, Debra, is also a breast cancer survivor), and mother and daughter have tirelessly raised funds for Children’s Miracle Network hospitals all over the country and collected head coverings for cancer patients such as bandannas, beanies, scarves, and caps made of soft, breathable fabric. Learn more about Caps That Care by visiting Molly’s blog, befreewithmolly.wordpress.com.

Molly’s book, My Crowning Achievement (Beating Cancer) is a must-read if there’s cancer in your family, or if an inspirational, faith-based message would provide comfort for someone you know.
Coming in August! Be watching for it!
And my new Oakdale series novel, 40 Days, combines the crazy people, high crime rate, and general mayhem of my fictional northeast Mississippi town with a faith-based message and even a hint of supernatural! We’re just days away from lift-off — launch is at Lemuria in Jackson, Mississippi, on Wednesday, March 7 at 5 p.m., and the following day, Thursday, March 8 at 3 p.m. at my hometown bookstore, The Book Mart and Cafe in Starkville!
So excited! It has been a LONG wait!
